Iris Ministries: Missionaries in Mozambique

http://irismin.org/

I was introduced to Iris Ministries by my brother Simon who goes to school with the Rolland and Heidi's son and daughter. Later I got to spend some time with Heidi and the family before she headed back to Mozambique. They've written a great book about their ministry called Always Enough. Here's an excerpt from their website:

Rolland & Heidi Baker began Iris Ministries, Inc., an interdenominational mission, in 1980 and have been missionaries for the past twenty-five years. They were both ordained as ministers in 1985 after completing their BA and MA degrees at Southern California College in Biblical Studies and Church Leadership. Rolland is a third-generation missionary born and raised in China and Taiwan. He was greatly influenced by his grandfather, H.A. Baker, who wrote "Visions Beyond the Veil," an account of the extended visions of heaven and hell that children received in his remote orphanage in southwest China two generations ago.

Loma Rica Community Church: My Home Church

I live about 7 miles from my home church in Loma Rica. I get to be involved in all kinds of ministries there from youth center to worship and leadership. Loma Rica Community Church is an interdenominational fellowship where Jesus Christ is Lord!

We Love The Bulletin: Bethel's answer to poor bulletin readership

http://www.welovethebulletin.com/

WeLoveTheBulletin.com is a production of Bethel Church designed to increase bulletin readership. There's really no way to put this in words well (or at least no way that I'm willing to spend the time to articulate) so just visit the site.

You'll like this, I promise.

Software

Quicksilver: Keep your hands to yourself

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/14831

Quicksilver allows you to find what you need quickly and easily, while keeping your hands on the keyboard. For example, if you want to launch an application hidden in the depths of your file system, simply activate Quicksilver with a keystroke, type a few letters of the application's name, then hit Return or Enter to launch it. Quicksilver catalogs your information, so that it locates and displays the items matching your search really quickly. You don't ecen have to type the letters in order. For me 'ps' opens Photoshop and 'i' opens iTunes. I also use it often to look up phone numbers:'je' brings up Jeremy's Contact info. Awesome.

On the Radio

Their primary goal is to effectively communicate the Gospel message to those who do not know or fully understand it. I listen on 104.9 FM, but if you're not in my area check their site to see if there's a station near you or you can listen online.

K-Love: Positive & Encouraging

http://www.klove.com/

K-Love is a contemporary christian music station whose goal is "To communicate the Gospel through mass media to lead as many people as possible toward salvation and spiritual growth."

I listen on 88.3 FM but you can listen on the internet or check their station list for a K-Love station in your area.

Dr. Laura: Never to be humble opinion

http://www.drlaura.com/

I sometimes catch Dr. Laura on AM 1410 between noon and 3pm on weekdays. That puts her show right on my drive home from Chico (at least it has for the last two semesters). Some people think Dr. Laura is rude or abrasive. I think it's important to realize that she's not in it for the listeners to think she's nice; she actually wants to help her callers.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger is not a Christian (might be Jewish?) but she often refers people to Christian principle and Christian books. Her diagnosis seems to be right most of the time. Before radio she earned a Ph.D. in Physiology and was a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Counselor in practice for 12 years.

She's written several books, none of which I've read). Some interesting titles include Where's God and The Ten Commandments: The Significance of God's Laws in Everyday Life. She encourages responsibility, maturity and enjoying life.

edified |ˈedəˌfīed| verb past ( -fies, -fy) [ trans. ] formally instructed or made like Ed or improved (someone) morally or intellectually.

ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French edifier, from Latin aedificare ‘build,’ from aedis ‘dwelling’ + facere ‘make’ (compare with edifice ). The word originally meant [construct a building,] also [strengthen,] hence to “build up” morally or spiritually.
