A Pirate's Treasure
A TODOS OS MAIS MELHORES PIRATAS
August 12th 2003

One day while sailing on my ship and blowing towns asunder
I went ashore aboard a skiff to rape and pillage and plunder

I saw a man and stole his gold and then I took his coat
And with my peg and hook tied on I beat and killed his goat

I went to kill the man himself, to squash him like a fly
But his luck has not run out that day- a lovely dame ran by

I Grabbed the lassie quickly, but before I had my pleasure
She handed me a map, and on it there was treasure!

My eye beheld a wonder as my hands the map unfurled
For the map declared the treasure was the greatest in the world

I left that island long ago and nary did return-
Find the treasure my heart cried and for it my heart yearned

On the map there was an 'X' and though I knew that it was far
I traveled there by day and in the night led by a star

I had to travel quickly 'cause I had to get there first-
For if there were no treasure I knew my heart would burst

But when I found the 'X' there was a man already there,
With his hands upon the wooden cross, his legs and chest were bare

He looked into my one good eye, I felt like he knew me
And he told my where my treasure was, there my heart would be

He asked me then to follow him and I said that I would-
So long as there's a treasure and so long as it is good

I took the patch from off my face and stared with my blind eye
I saw his mercy and his grace and there I watched him die

A quiet tear ran down my cheek for in the evening sheen
Since my eye was stabbed, he was the first light it had seen

I saw a bolt of lightning and I heard the crash of thunder
and on that very hilltop my doors he blew asunder

The map said I should wait 3 days and promised I would know
Where to find the treasure and which way that I should go

I wandered through the country side and came upon a cave
Where they said the man of treasure was, they said it was his grave

But when I walked up to the rock and saw there was no door
An angel said "He's risen and will reign forevermore"

The map told me to find him I would have to change my ways
I said that I was savvy and I did it all my days

I prayed and from my wicked things I surely did repent
If only for the treasure that I knew could not be spent

Then I began to seek him and I gave away my stuff-
I told others of the treasure 'cause I knew there'd be enough

There was a path and the a wall, the crowd began to stir-
A camel sat beside the gate, a needle in his fur

But when I saw the tiny door I knew I had to fit
For the map said through the door was the treasure I would get

I bent down to the door and and yelled, "I'm looking for the one,"
"Who told me of a treasure" He said "You know my son?"

I told him that I'd followed, that it cost me everything-
And knowing I was sinful that I had nothing to bring

But he took my patch and then my peg and then my pirate hook
And he gave me hands and feet because he'd found me in his book

He clothed me in his finest and took me to his son
And when I saw his glory, I knew that it was done

I knew this was the treasure for I saw the son was living
and he told me on the cross, my pirate sins he was forgiving
